Sights - Cultural attractions of region
- Panagia Euaggelistria church in Stavroupoli ,29 km North-West of Xanthi, where there are old pictures, ecclesiastic heilrooms and a carven chancel screen

Villages of the Pomaks
They are the picturesque villages in the mountains in the northern part of the prefecture. They consist of about 40 settlements.The nearest of them is about 8 km northern of the town (Gorgona). It is worth visiting Echinos, the largest of them, Myki, Kentavros, Sminthi, Oreo, Thermes, Kotyli and many others.
All villages are built in great natural environment. You will see picturesque houses and old mansions, authentic scenes of agricultural life and will be impressed by the diligence and hospitality of the local people.
